European Encloser Related Standards

The International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) uses Ingress Protection (IP codes). A two digit numerical rating system used to identify an enclosure's ability to resist external environmental influences. The first digit defines the degree of protection against solid objects; and the second digit defines the degree of protection against water. These ratings are intended to provide more informed choices and a safer work area.

European Union (EU) directives are being harmonized for health and safety, enviroment and consumer protection using the CE mark (Communauté Européenne) an administrative mark which, in accordance with the new EU Directives, has to appear on all products sold in the European Union.

As manufacturers and distributors Millennium Lighting (UK) Ltd use the CE logo to confirm to our customers that our products meet the directives. In particularly the following: Products that fall within the scope of EU Directive on electromagnetic compatibility have had to have a CE label since 1996. Products that fall within the scope of EU Low-Voltage Directive have had to have a CE label since 1997.
